The narrowed hub is a '80 Plymouth Volare, as are the bearings and seal. The spindles are '56 F100. The spindles have been shortened and the taper cut back 5/8", threads cut and the pin holes drilled. This allowed the dust cap to move in and make room for the wheel covers after the hub was shortened to match. The cheek plate on the spindle was trimmed about .187" and the old inner bearing surfaces moved in a like amount. It uses an adapter similar to the one that Sumner shows for his front spindle.

Narrowing the hub required re-cutting all the bearing cups, seal and dust cap bores. I had to install internal snap rings in the hubs behind the outboard bearing cups because I had to remove the ledge that backed up the cup originally. All of this allowed the wheel to move in about 13/16 over the king pin. Less scrub and moved a little mass out of the air. Check the before (above) and after (below) pictures of the wheel mounted on the axle.

This is a picture of the Dodge minivan space saver wheel and narrowed hub and shows that I may be able to get the wheel cover on without cutting a hole in it. The wheels seem to be well built and call for 60# of air. After welding the center section to the rim fully, they should be up to the job. They are 5X4 1/2 lug pattern and 4 1/4X15 rim.

Steering Arms.

The steering is link type and I haven't seen any like it but it's so simple it must have been used before.
................
It may transmit the road surface irregularities to the wheel and could be little quick but I'm going to give it a try if it passes inspection.
...........................
Maybe I should send a picture of it to the inspectors.
